Fairview Church of Christ has several church programs we support to give back to our community
Fairview Food Pantry
Our food pantry opened its doors in November 2009. At the start, it was our goal to serve five to seven hungry families through the Voluntary Action Center. Since those early days more than 15 years ago, we have grown immensely and now have the opportunity to assist 20 families every month. Families receive nonperishable food as well as personal care items for family members of all ages.
The Fairview Food Pantry is stocked and operated by members of our congregation and we are so happy we can share what we have with families in our community. To learn how you can become involved, contact us or speak to a member of our leadership team after our next service.
Easter Community Dinner
Each spring, we invite our community to gather with us for a free Easter meal as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Volunteers from Fairview prepare and serve dinner while creating a welcoming place for individuals and families to connect, share a meal and celebrate the hope we have in our risen Lord
Vacation Bible School
Each summer, Fairview transforms our space into a whole new world for a week of Vacation Bible School! Kids from our church and throughout the community are invited to step into an immersive experience filled with creative sets and decorations, Bible stories, music, games, crafts, hands-on activities and dinner each night. Everything works together to help kids learn about Jesus, build friendships and experience God’s love in a fun and memorable way.
Back-To-School Block Party
Each August, Fairview hosts a free Back to School Block Party to help families celebrate and get ready for a new school year. The afternoon is packed with large inflatables, tons of crafts and games, a free BBQ dinner, raffles, giveaways and back-to-school resources for families. It’s a fun way for us to bring our community together, encourage students and families and kick off the school year together.
Fall Fest
Every fall, Fairview welcomes families from throughout the community for an evening of fun at our annual Fall Fest. The event includes Trunk or Treat, games and activities, a Chili Cook-Off, prizes, raffles and plenty of candy. It’s a free, family-friendly night where neighbors can have fun, meet new people and enjoy time together.
Thanksgiving Community Dinner
Each November, Fairview hosts a free Thanksgiving Community Dinner, serving more than 750 people throughout our community. Our congregation comes together to prepare and serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal, with options to dine in, pick up a meal or have one delivered. It’s a simple way for us to care for our neighbors, build connections and make sure everyone has a place at the table during the Thanksgiving season.
Christmas Family Gift Giving
The Christmas season can be challenging for families who are struggling in the Columbia, MO community. That is why Fairview Church of Christ partners with Love Columbia to collect toys and clothing to give families the Christmas they deserve. Thanks to the generosity of our congregation, we are able to support anywhere from five to nine families each holiday season.
